Atelier Paul Vaugoyeau has transformed a 450-square-meter space on a high street in Södermalm into an office and workshop for the sustainable, consumption-aware Swedish brand Asket.
Purposefully designed, the new headquarter is located in one of Stockholm's best preserved industrial buildings from the 1800s. The focus of the design was to celebrate the original character and restore its industrial functionalism. In line with Asket´s Mantra "the pursuit of less", the team set out with a minimal design vision, where everything has its reason for being, and worked with what was here, using natural,wear-resisting materials, such as metal and oak wood for a timeless design that will last and last.
The renovated open-plan office consists of workspaces, several meeting rooms and phone booths on the West wing. On the East wing is a Kitchen and social area as well as a designated open studio for the product team, stocked with tools such as sewing machines and materials for the development of new garments.
Large custom made tables were installed in the middle of the main office space, as well as in the meeting rooms. Designed to promote collaboration, the tables are made from Swedish oak wood, sawn, dried and crafted into tables by local artisans close to Nyköping – a municipality south of Stockholm.
